Poem: Rewriting My Story

It’s time to wake up

Understand

I don't have to be a victim Of my conditioning Unconsciously repeating Inherited stories

Passed down by family

And wider community

Mindfulness is the key

To notice

Don’t go with the flow

Of habitual behaviour

But pause

Even if it’s uncomfortable

See what’s happening

Compassionately

Take control Of my response

Fully aware

Of what I don’t

And do want to have

It’s time to

Break the spell Take the rein Reclaim my power

And consciously create

This is what I mean

By rewriting my story
